Władysław Podkowiński's „Ectasy” (also known as „Frenzy”) is one of the most famous Polish 19th century paintings. Its popularity is undoubtedly due, at least in part, to the social scandal associated with its first presentation in 1894 and the fact that due to its subject matter it is extremely easy understand.
