Tender attention. Urszula Czartoryska and Photography
In the very centre of the city of Łódź, on the site of the former 19th-century factory complex, now an entertainment and cultural centre (called Manufaktura), there is one of the branches of the oldest museum of contemporary art in Europe, Muzeum Sztuki / the Museum of Art.
Established as a private initiative of a group of artists, it has been gathering its collection since the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. Currently, it is the most important institution in Poland presenting contemporary art.
On 28/05/2021, Muzeum Sztuki in cooperation with the Fotofestiwal / Festival of Photography has opened a temporary exhibition dedicated not to an artist, but to the Museum's own former director of photography division and the creator of its photography collection. Entitled “Tender attention. Urszula Czartoryska and photography”, the exhibition presents a wide spectrum of possibilities of photography as a medium - from experimental through aesthetically sublime to reportage one - mirroring Czartoryska's wide interests.
